Explore the Depths of History at the Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King
Discover an extraordinary piece of history in Guangzhou, China, as you explore the Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King. Situated 20 meters beneath the surface, this archaeological gem houses a treasure trove of over 1,000 cultural relics that express the distinguished Yue Culture of South China.
The tombs consist of 750 large stones embellished with colorful murals, setting the scene for a journey back to an ancient world. It was unearthed quite unexpectedly in 1983 during a hotel's construction and has since become a must-visit venue, opening its doors to the public in 1988.
The museum layout is meticulously divided into seven exhibit areas, including a front chamber, east and west wing rooms, the central coffin chamber, side rooms, and a back storage chamber, each telling a part of the Nanyue King's story.
